What is Bowen?

Bowen is a gentle and holistic therapy, that originated in Geelong, Australia by a man called Thomas Ambrose Bowen.

The Bowen Therapist uses fingers and thumbs over soft tissue on precise points of the body using a rolling type movement.

During a Bowen treament, there are a series of short breaks where the therapist leaves the room. This is an important aspect of Bowen as it is within this time that the body can absorb and process the intricate movements performed by the therapist, allowing subtle adjustments to take place.

Bowen works by being a facilitator in the healing process, allowing the body to gently come back into balance.  By treating the body as a whole and not just specific conditions, we help tackle the cause of the condition, not just the symptoms.  This often results in lasting relief even from long stading pain.
